Ask Dr. Neil - Love, Sex and Relationship Advice from the Internet

Seperating the Experts from the Edu-tainers!
A Review by Rusty Fischer

As a relationship author myself, or so I thought, I was excited to receive a review copy of Ask Dr. Neil - Love, Sex and Relationship Advice from the Internet, written by therapist, author, and lecturer Dr. Neil Friedman, Ph.D. The book is compiled from his popular column at www.Relationship-Talk.com, and since it contains some of the same "buzz" words as my own books, I felt that I could safely predict what might await me between the covers. After all, here was a fellow "relationship" author. A kindred soul.

Boy, was I wrong. Oh, not about the "relationship" author part. Dr. Neil is certainly that. He's also what I like to call the "real deal." Not content to merely toss about theories and statistics, Dr. Neil answers the tough questions with poise and sensitivity. He is not afraid to handle the tougher issues, and responds both fairly and objectively to his readers, whether their problems be big or small. Not content to provide pat answers to difficult problems, Dr. Neil is unblinking in his responses and often responds in ways the questioner, and his loyal readers, might find surprising.

In response to a reader who asked, "Is it okay for an older man to have sex with a younger woman?" for example, Dr. Neil responded thusly: "I once knew of a love affair between a 27 year old man and a 63 year old woman. Their relationship was very lovely, very deep, very mutual, very sexy, and very fine. They both knew it was okay. That is what helped it work."

Dr. Neil's advice is firm and fair, helpful and consistent. As he points out in the book's introduction: "The 'target audience' for this book is anyone who is in a relationship, has ever been in a relationship, or may someday be in a relationship. (Did I miss anyone?)"

Indeed, Dr. Neil does not miss anyone. This book is a collection of his best answers from his Website column, and as such runs the gamut for everyone-and everything! While the Buzz On books were famous for being info-tainment, Ask Dr. Neil is the real deal: Love, Sex and Relationship Advice from the Internet!

Got a relationship question? Lucky for you, the doctor is always in! And always available.
